Congratulations to American Studies doctoral candidate Meredith McCoy, who has been elected as a recipient of a “Maynard Adams Fellowship for the Public Humanities” in the 2016-17 academic year. These fellowships honor the intellectual commitments of UNC philosopher Maynard Adams (1919-2003), who argued that scholars and teachers in the humanities should engage with diverse communities outside the University. Meredith’s work on education in Native America is exemplary of this ethos!
