The major in American Studies with a concentration in American Indian and Indigenous Studies consists of nine courses from the following categories. An up-to-date list of all courses available to students within these categories can be found in the Undergraduate Catalog. At least one of the courses must be at the 300-level or above and courses listed more than once can be counted for only one category.

  • • Language and Expressive Culture (two)
  • • Elective (one)

We occasionally offer topics courses and seminars that are not listed above. These can still be counted toward fulfilling the major concentration with approval from the Director of Undergraduate Studies and American Indian and Indigenous Studies Concentration Coordinator.
