Southern Studies Professional Development Workshop & Happy Hour

September 18, 2015 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Come participate in a professional development workshop related to southern studies. Happy hour to follow! Location is TBA, contact Elizabeth Engelhardt or Marcie Cohen Ferris for more information. Event is open to ALL graduate students, regardless of department or home institution.

Our next southern studies working group gathering takes place this Friday, September 18. We will begin at 4pm in the conference room at CSAS in the Love House for a professional development conversation. Our topic is Mapping the Professional Southern Studies Landscape—and we will be discussing conferences, professional associations, archives, and the energy of other southern studies programs; we’re aiming to balance academic and public groups, so the more the better. Added to that, we will strategize how to engage, choose, and find our intellectual and professional kin. Please bring your favorite suggestions, ideas, and questions. Everyone is invited.

After that, around 5:15 (until 7pm), we will adjourn to TRU for an informal hour or so of general conversation and conviviality. If the workshop feels a little too in the southern studies weeds for you, then this is the time you should join us. Then again, why not come to both, regardless?!
