The coronavirus crisis has resulted in major shifts within all of our lives, unfortunately including the delay of graduation celebrations and ceremonies for college seniors. While we may not be able to celebrate in person, our “Celebrating AMST Seniors” series is dedicated to recognizing and congratulating seniors graduating with majors in American Studies for their accomplishes and sharing what they appreciated about the major during their time at UNC.


Q: What are your majors and minors?

A: Majors: Political Science and American Studies (Southern Studies Concentration), Minor: Philosophy, Politics, and Economics

Q: What has been your favorite course or professor in American Studies?

A: AMST 102: Myth and History in American Memory.

Q: What do you wish people knew about American Studies?

A: This course of study is so much more than just U.S. history. From literature to music, American Studies encompasses so many aspects of life in this country.

Q: Tell us about your Seniors Honor Thesis!

A: Titled “A Night at the East Lincoln Motor Speedway: Faith, Family, and Pride” My thesis explores the values promoted at a dirt track, and how these values are transmitted from generation to generation.
